Ceremonies that take it easy. Signatures that hold up.
Know all persons by these presents, that the undersigned, Rev. Archie, being an ordained Dudeist minister and a commissioned Colorado notary public, of sound mind and relaxed disposition, does hereby marry people, bless things, and witness signatures throughout the Front Range. Robe optional. Available on request. It is a very comfortable robe.
In plain English I'm a Denver-based wedding officiant and mobile notary. Two official stamps, one robe. Notarizations are $15 per document; ceremonies are quoted to fit.
Article I
Ceremonies
Your wedding shouldn't feel like a deposition. The irony of saying so in a document formatted like one is noted and entered into the record. I write a ceremony that sounds like the two of you, keep it as short as you want, and make sure the paperwork is done right. Religious, secular, somewhere in between: all good.
Weddings
Backyard, brewery, ballroom, or bowling alley. Custom script, a planning call, a rehearsal if you want one, and a signed license before the bar opens.
Elopements
You, your person, a trailhead, and me in sensible shoes. Foothills and mountain spots by request. Short notice is usually fine; my calendar abides.
Vow renewals
Still married? Far out. Let's say it again with better jokes and the kids watching. No license, no paperwork, no pressure.
Procedure
The parties shall proceed as follows:
- We talk. Coffee, phone, or a beverage of your choosing. You tell me your story and how serious this thing should be.
- I write. You get a draft to mark up. Add readings, cut the mushy parts, veto any joke.
- You abide. I show up early, run the ceremony, sign the license, and remind you to return it to the county clerk within 63 days.
Colorado doesn't actually require me. The state lets couples self-solemnize: you can legally marry yourselves with no officiant and no witnesses. Colorado county clerks have been known to accept a dog's paw print in the witness blank. This is my favorite fact. Hiring me is purely a quality-of-life decision. That takes the pressure off everybody.
Article II
Odd Jobs
Not everything worth marking is a wedding. Nothing in this Article is legally binding, which is rather the point.
Rug dedications
A good rug really pulls a room together. A brief blessing ensures it stays where it belongs and that nobody does anything regrettable on it.
Bowling league blessings
Pre-season invocation for your team, your lane, and your ball. No warranty, express or implied, regarding league standings. Foot-fault absolution is not included and, frankly, not possible. There are rules.
Pet weddings & memorials
Joyful unions between consenting-ish dogs, and gentle, dignified send-offs for the good ones who've gone. I take the second kind seriously.
Un-weddings & divorce parties
Sometimes new information comes to light. A short ceremony to close the chapter, release the vows, and cut the cake in half. Strikes and gutters.
Catch-all
House blessings, boat namings, retirement send-offs, a eulogy for a Volvo. If it deserves a few words, ask.
Article III
Notarial Services
This Article contains no jokes. Except this footnote, which is outside the Article and therefore compliant. I'm a commissioned Colorado notary public and I come to you: home, office, hospital, coffee shop. Evenings and weekends are fine.
Acts performed
Everyday notarial work, including:
- Acknowledgments (deeds, powers of attorney, affidavits)
- Jurats and sworn statements
- Oaths and affirmations
- Copy certifications
- Vehicle titles, school and travel consent forms, and the rest of life's paperwork
What to bring
Three things, every time:
- Current government-issued photo ID for every signer
- The complete document, unsigned
- Every signer, in person. Remote online notarization is not offered.

$15 per document is the most Colorado allows a notary to charge. Any travel fee is separate and agreed on before I get in the car.
Limitations
I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in Colorado. I can't give legal advice, pick your form, or tell you what to write on it. I can confirm you are who you say you are and that you signed willingly. That's the whole job, and I take it seriously.
Article IV
The Undersigned
I'm Rev. Archie, an ordained minister of the Church of the Latter-Day Dude, a real religion with several hundred thousand ordained ministers and one central teaching: take it easy. Think of it as Taoism in a bathrobe.
I'm also, less mystically, a notary public commissioned by the Colorado Secretary of State. One of these credentials required training and an exam. The other required an open mind and a working internet connection. I'm proud of both.

Interrogatories
Questions people actually ask, answered under no oath whatsoever.
Is a Dudeist wedding legal in Colorado?
Yes. Colorado recognizes marriages solemnized by clergy of any religious denomination, and it's one of the most relaxed states in the country about who that is. The legal part is the license you get from a county clerk: I sign it, you return it, you're married.
Does the ceremony have to be, you know, Dude-themed?
Not even a little. Most of my ceremonies contain zero bowling references. The philosophy shows up as the vibe: unhurried, warm, no sermon. If you want the robe, though, I own the robe.
Can you marry us and notarize our documents?
Yes, as two separate jobs. A marriage license doesn't need notarizing at all. If you've got a prenup or a name-change affidavit, I can notarize that on a different visit, wearing the other hat.
How far will you travel?
Anywhere on the Front Range, Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. Mountain venues are welcome with a travel fee and a weather contingency. Beyond that, ask; I like a drive.
How much notice do you need?
Weddings: a few weeks is comfortable, a few days is possible. Notary: often same day or next day. Fill out the form below and I'll tell you honestly.
